Hong and I wore 21 bands each on our wrists. Each 1k we would take one off and put on our other wrist. Partly so we could dedicated or pray for a different friend or family member each kilometer and partly because we needed a visual sign that we were getting closer to the finish line. Unfortunately, they were mistaken as bandages on our wrists by other runners. It left us with confused looks from bypassers. haha
Hong and I running in Cape Town, South Africa!
haha...notice the other runners. Are they far ahead of us? Or are they left in our dust...you'll never know.
Hand-Made Shoes!
Income Generating Project Workshop I held this month with the support group I work with. They want to give me a pair as a gift, so I want to see if they can weave some chuck taylors.
Youth in my area playing soccer.
My parents and sister donated a soccer ball to the boys youth soccer team in my area. They play every night after school. A recreation league has been started to keep kids out of trouble and playing sports in the schools.
My brother holding my Bunk Mate.
After 30 minutes, this was removed from my bedroom. Unless that mouse talks or rides a motorcycle, he is not allowed in my room.
United States Peace Corps visits the Palace
Two volunteers, Peace Corps Country Director, Assistant Director and Secretary went to visit King Mswati's wife at the palace for tea in June. I was one of the lucky volunteers to come along with my friend Jen. We talked about Peace Corps role in Swaziland and build better connections with the King and his wife.
My current project with the girl youth. April 18th HIV/AIDS workshop and April 25th pageant!
My aunts new baby!
I whisper "Jaclyn is awesome" in this baby's ear in hopes my name will be his first word. That would be SWEET!
World AIDS Day
I took the initiative to conduct the Swaziland Army Band since their spirits were beginning to dwindle 45 min into our march. Special thanks to Mr. Connell, high school band teacher, who taught me everything I know.
4 am Sunrise
After I went running one morning the clouds filled in the valley that my homestead overlooks. It was so pretty.
